Legacy system takeover & rebuild

Vendor gone, no source code, no more updates — starting over is not the only option. We assess what you run today, then put the choices in writing: maintain it, take it over, migrate the data, or rebuild in stages.

Common situations

How many of these sound familiar?

Three or more, and a legacy systems health check is worth the time.

  • A system built years ago takes weeks to change one small thing
  • Off-the-shelf software forces the business to bend around it
  • The interface is old, so staff work around it every day
  • Data sits across several tools and spreadsheets; reconciling is manual
  • Too much is still done by hand because the system cannot help
  • The original vendor is gone or no longer supports it

Highlights

What the takeover looks like

Every step is written down, and we say what is possible before anything changes.

Know what is there

Accounts, source code, database, export options, APIs and data permissions — surveyed once, not guessed.

Data that can move

We test export and restore first, and only migrate once the data is proven complete.

Delivered in stages

Start with the one or two areas that hurt most — no need for a big-bang shutdown.

Someone after go-live

Monthly maintenance available afterwards: 24/7 remote support, on-site within 2 hours, written report after each service.

Process

How it works

Four steps: survey, written recommendation, scope and acceptance, then staged delivery.

  1. Survey and health check

Accounts, source code, database, export options, APIs, data permissions.

  2. Written recommendation

Maintain, take over, migrate or rebuild in stages — with risks and costs.

  3. Scope and acceptance

Must-keep features, acceptance criteria and stages; work starts after you agree.

  4. Handover and follow-up

Handover notes and account arrangements; maintenance can continue with us.

Before we take over

What is possible, and what is not

Without source code, a system cannot always be changed. That is why the first step is an assessment, not a quote.

  • We check accounts, database, export options, APIs and data permissions first
  • Migration only once data is proven exportable and restorable
  • No source code: we can still operate, support, migrate or rebuild — but we will not promise to modify the old system
  • Rebuilding: scope, must-keep features and acceptance criteria in writing, delivered in stages

A good fit when

The original vendor is gone and nobody answers change requests

The system still runs, but the business has outgrown it

You want to move to a new environment but do not know if the data can move

Several old systems need to work together instead of separately

Book a legacy systems health check

Bring what you know: who built it, whether source code exists, which database it uses and whether data must move. We judge first whether it is worth saving.
